About Me

DSC_1337I decided to study psychology when I was at high school. For me the most amazing thing is discovering how different we are from each other – all of us have different defense mechanisms, different emotions and ways of expressing and understanding of the same situation. I admire the relationships we build with the world around us how much of an impact the people we share our world and trust impact who we are. I have an endless curiosity of what makes us human and the dynamics that give us our own identity.

In an attempt to satisfy my curiosity I completed my Bsc in psychology at Istanbul Bilgi University with a honors degree. Those 4 years of academic psychology education gave me a deeper understanding of psychology and its different aspects. As psychology is such a broad science, I signed up for numerous internships to find out in which area was the best fit for me and where I could give the most meaningful impact. I landed positions at schools, hospitals, clinics and art workshops and it was over this period I realised clinical psychology was my area of choice.  With my newfound route, I applied for a Msc in Clinical Aspects of psychology at Reading University where I received a scholarship. My courses were CBT based which gave me better understanding of mental disorders and theraphy techniques. During my Msc I focused my interest on working with children and young adults. I have always believed that families have a huge impact on their child`s progress and as a result I wrote my thesis on parenting styles and anxiety in children.

Currently I am working with children that require special education primarily with autism under supervision from very experienced consultant. We work with different techniques on different skills (teaching, play skills, social skills, communication skills, behaviour strategies) to make certain we identify all of the skills that the children need. We continuously tailor our programme to maintain high levels of task engagement and discover new metrics to measure performance. It`s amazing to see how quickly they learn and thats what makes my job so rewarding.

I offer my services both in English and Turkish, and I look forward to hearing from you and how we can work together!
